Job Title: Visitor Service Representative
Reports to: Executive Director
The Visitor Services Representative position provides opportunities to gain knowledge about customer service and about art. The Visitor Services Representative will learn about AGA exhibitions on display during the summer, about art classes/workshops offered at the AGA, about special events at the Gallery, summer classes for children and youth, the use of Point of Sale System, tours offered at the Gallery, administrative skills, and general customer service. The Visitor Services Representative will assist with public relations, promoting the Gallery Shop, AGA programming and events; creating posters and other promotional materials, updating social media, and handing AGA brochures, as well as providing excellent customer service to visitors to the Gallery, the Gallery Shop, and Gallery Café. The Visitor Service Representative will conduct tours offered by the Gallery on as needed bases and as per information provided by the Gallery staff. The Visitor Services Representative will maintain reports to provide status of their work and accurate numbers of visitors.
Considered candidates will have education and or experience within arts/ design, marketing, customer service, event planning, and not for profit sector. Computer skills should include proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point), and knowledge of social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Flickr, YouTube). Successful candidate should be fluent in English (written and spoken). Spoken French will be considered an asset.
The successful candidate will be willing to work evenings, weekends and at special events. The candidate will be trained and supervised by the Executive Director or Director’s designate.
According to the Provincial and Federal funding eligibility criteria, candidates:
- Will be between 16 and 25 (or 30) years of age at the start of employment;
- Are willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment in duration of seven weeks starting in June;
- The candidate must be a full-time student (as defined by their educational institution) in the semester preceding the placement;
- The candidate must intend to return to full-time studies in the semester following the summer placement.
