Invites applications for the following position:

 FRENCH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE TUTORS

Working in collaboration with various members of the Board’s Curriculum Department and reporting to the respective school Principal, the successful candidates will be required to work two (2) hours per week one-on-one and within small groups with Indigenous FSL students in the following First Nation Communities (day and time to be determined). The successful candidates will provide FSL (both Core and Immersion) student on First Nation Communities with after school homework support; to bridge the gap between school and Indigenous communities with our Board.

Locations: Serpent River, Sagamok, Garden River, Whitefish Island, Michipicoten, Batchewana, Chapleau (Brunswick House, Chapleau Ojibwe & Chapleau Cree), Mississaugi

Mileage will be provided if tutor is required to travel to the respective community from the closest town or city

The successful candidates will demonstrate evidence of:

  • Knowledge of Secondary Core and/or Immersion French
  • Fluency in French
  • Comfort and proficiency with computer technologies
  • Organization and self-motivation
  • Ability to prepare activities for some groups
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of the local Indigenous community is considered an asset

EFFECTIVE DATE:            October 2017                      

END DATE: June 2018 (Approximately)

HOURLY WAGE RATE: $14.00
